Evidence of climate change

- Retreating glaciers. In recent decades there has been a general retreat of glaciers in the mountains, especially in the northern hemisphere. The process is accelerating and also affects the ice, or ice cap that covers the ocean in polar regions. During the summer, the area covered by Arctic sea ice has decreased by 14%, but its thickness has hevho 40%.

- Increase in sea level. During the twentieth century sea level has risen at a rate between 1 and 2 mm / year. The process is accelerating and, between 1993-2003 the average increase was 3 mm / year. And the result of the merger of much of continental ice and thermal expansion of ocean water.

- Increase in global average temperature. The glacial retreat and sea level rise are nothing more than direct consequences of the increase in average surface temperature of the continents and oceans.

- Extreme weather events are becoming more frequent. Periods of drought, floods, heat waves and cyclones normally form part climate dynamics. However, a feature of climate change is that these extreme events are exacerbated and increase their frequency.

- Many living organisms are changing their behavior and distribution. was observed seasonal changes in rates, changes in the migratory processes of aces in the flowering season of plants n the spatial distribution of species.
